The hardest part about living in South Florida is the lack of good barbecue. Hell, I went to a rib joint where I swear the meat was boiled. You couldn't get the meat off the bone with a hacksaw. I'm originally from Memphis, so that's a huge loss for me. I smoke ribs myself, but I don't always have time.
Anyway, I was excited out of my mind to learn there's gonna be a BBQ contest right here in Florida. The 3rd Annual Isles Smokin' Hot BBQ contest.

It was tough finding information, but it's October 24th and 25th at a casino in Pompano. I am stoked out of my mind and will be attending both days.
Are there any fellow pitmasters going to this? Or, as a longer shot, is anyone actually entered into the contest? If you are, please tell me so I can go meet you! I am eager to go and meet all the pitmasters and try all the different techniques.
Even if you're not going, have you ever been to one of these? I went to Memphis in May when I was a kid, but I barely remember it, so this whole thing is new to me. What should I expect? Do you think the pitmasters would mind me asking about their cooks? Do you guys want pics?
